Like graphite or charcoal, a diamond is common carbon— the difference is that mined diamonds are crystallized under enormous pressure and at very, very high temperatures. With lab created diamonds, this high pressure is replicated in a laboratory instead of in the earth’s mantle. A diamond’s exceptional hardness (both lab created and mined) is due to its crystalline structure, in which carbon atoms have essentially the same arrangement in all directions, and in which bonding between the carbon atoms is immensely strong and
uniform.
Lab created diamonds are identical to mined diamonds in their composition; they have the same chemical structure. Our Lab Created collections are also finely crafted in 14kt recycled gold. How are Lab Created Diamonds Certified?
Certificates of authenticity, such as a Diamond Grading Report (issued by the GIA) and a Diamond Quality Document(issued by AGS), are”blueprints” of a diamond, providing a diamond’s exact measurements and weight, as well as the details of its cut. colour and clarity. In short, they identify the characteristics of the diamond. Many diamond-grading labs issue certificates. Each piece in our Lab Created Collection comes with an IGI certificate including the diamonds unique laser inscription. With each item, customers will also receive a certificate for their piece just as they do when purchasing our Canadian Diamond Collections.

In addition to using recycled gold, we have partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every product sold from our Lab Created collection. One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity across the globe. For every piece sold, Paris Jewellers will plant one tree in Canada, focused in the British Columbia region affected by forest fire with our co-owners matching all donations at the end of 2022.

What is the difference between moissanite and lab created diamonds?
While moissanite may appear to be chemically similar to diamonds, they are not the same as a
diamond. Moissanite are composed of silicon carbide, not carbon and are double refractive as
opposed to single refractive diamonds. Double refractivity is what gives moissanite their disco
ball sparkle effect which is visually different to the brilliance and scintillation of a diamond.
Moissanite are not as hard as diamonds measuring at 9.5 on the Mohs scale and change colour
over time.
What is the difference between cubic zirconia and lab created diamonds?
Cubic zirconia and lab created diamonds are chemically, compositionally, and optically different.
Cubic zirconia is a diamond simulant while lab-created diamonds are real diamonds.
